I don't use the nested syntax everywhere for two reasons:
- performance: it forces dynamic behavior in that section

I tend to agree with this. While there is some charm to consistency, and it might be tempting to just use the nested version of all variables and section variables, I would agree that this is not the most efficient way to go.
