Bugs & Feature Suggestions • [Bug] Rainmeter's WiFiStatus queries cause huge 30GB+ CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal file

Hello Everyone,

I was investigating a huge disk space disappearance after I upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 (even refreshed the installation several times)
and found out that my window's CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal file is taking up to 30GB after like 8-10 hours of uptime (disappears completely on restarts), after some search I've found other people with similar claims up to but not limited to 120GB+ of this file.
(Found in: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\CapabilityAccessManager\CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal )

I did some investigation and checked what the CapabilityAccessManager is responsible for (allowing or denying access of apps to sensitive sensors and data like mic, location, camera), checked all the entries and found that Rainmeter (latest stable) was querying it 10 times a second.

I decided to stop Rainmeter altogether for a few days and the issue disappeared, so I kept investigating - disabled widgets one by one until I found that the one causing the issue is coming from the WiFi widget (that updates every 100ms) from Windows 10 widgets. ( https://win10widgets.com/ )

Continued my investigation and found out that it is a new requirement of the WiFiStatus plugin/measure on 24H2 to have the access to systems location ( yeah it is enabled )

The db-wal file probably logs the attempts, the increase is not exactly linear, it possibly has a write cache, I usually notice it with ~5GB increments each time every few hours, when the disk space runs out the system becomes unresponsive and strange program freezes happen.

One could argue that updating a widget 10 times a second might be too much, but making it update every second would only make the issue a bit slower in the end, I still think this might worth looking into as it is quite cryptic issue and wasn't easy to pinpoint it to Rainmeter. It might need caching or limitations on Rainmeter's end too, or well some investigation on why this logging gets so large.

If I forgot to include any detail or circumstances, please let me know.

PS.:
Oh and one last thing, the ReCaptcha for the forum registration does not work on Firefox (latest nightly), it says that:
"unsupported entryTypes ignored: longtask."
And the 'Language' picker dropdown does not load properly on chrome, nor firefox, when opened it only has a tiny empty entry.
