The original confusion stems from contradictory posts:
And here is the contradiction:
Here it is clearly stated that IconPath names can be dynamic and customised, least that's the impression I got. If the names can be dynamic then you must be able to specify specific icons to show depending what the file is. eg, Index1 shows file name as Mario Kart and Index2 is Sonic 2. Scroll down so Index2 becomes Index1 which means that Index2 icon becomes Index1 icon, ie, Sonic 2 icon is shown in place of Mario Kart icon.Yincognito:
It's the same icon CONTENTS, it's not the same icon FILE. Like you said, it only makes sense if you want to specify a location, other than the skins folder, to store the default icon FILES - which is precisely what this does, except that you must specify it completely (i.e. plus filename and extension). There's a reason for that, maybe you want each icon FILE to have its name constructed differently, or you want some files to be .ico, some .png or some .jpg. Of course such file names can be dynamic (don't confuse it with random though), if you set them accordingly and use DynamicVariables=1 for it. The option is one applied to FileView children, that theoretically means you don't have to re-read the source folder like you would for a FileView parent measure's option.
And here is the contradiction:
So which is it?Yincognito » Wed Aug 21, 2024 2:15 pmNo, this is not that option. The option is about the location of the extracted icon file, and not about the content of the extracted icon image.

My original reason for this enquiry was to find out if this is the option I need that could allow showing my own .ico .png .jpg, etc, for each index item to allow not the inbuilt icons to be used, but for each file to have it's own icon based on this path setting?
